The Sindh government, on Monday, has announced a public holiday across the province on Wednesday, July 29, on the occasion of the annual urs of renowned Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA).

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Information Department on Monday, the holiday will be observed in all provincial government offices.
It will also be observed in autonomous and semi autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils that work under the Sindh government.
The notification said that the essential services will remain open and continue their normal work despite the holiday.

The annual urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) is held every year at his shrine in Bhit Shah.
Thousands of devotees from different parts of Pakistan visit the shrine to pay tribute to the great Sufi poet. They gather to remember his poetry, teachings and spiritual legacy.
Three holidays for Pakistanis
People across Pakistan are set to enjoy three consecutive holidays in August. This is because the Independence Day of the country, August 14, falls just before the weekend.
Pakistan will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 14, 2026. The day will be observed with patriotic celebrations, flag hoisting ceremonies and other events across the country with full zeal and zest.
Since August 14 falls on a Friday this year, it will be followed by the usual weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday. This will give many people a three day long weekend on August 14, 15 and 16.
Earlier, the Balochistan government also announced short summer holidays for public and private schools in the province’s winter zone.
According to a notification issued by the Secretary of School Education, schools in the cold areas of Balochistan will remain closed from July 18 to August 2. The notification said all public and private schools will reopen on August 3.
