Yesterday, Pakistani actress Hina Altaf sparked a debate on social media after describing Karachi as a “jail” while speaking about the challenges women face in Pakistan.
The actress shared a video from London as she prepared to return to Karachi at the end of her UK trip. In the video, she made sarcastic remarks about women’s freedom and safety in Pakistan, prompting mixed reactions from social media users.
“It’s my last day in the UK, and after this, I have to return to Karachi. So, I wanted to enjoy my last breakfast in London before going back to the jail in Karachi,” Hina said.
She went on to express her concerns about the freedom of women in Pakistan, saying women cannot live freely, breathe freely or enjoy their lives.
According to the actress, even walking on public streets has become difficult for women. She added that being a girl in Pakistan can feel like committing a crime.
“London, you have been so good. My stay here was wonderful,” she said.
