Fatima Sana shines but Pakistan fall short against South Africa

In the 11th match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup South Africa beat Pakistan by a mere two wickets. They were chasing 127 runs and were able to chase it with 19 balls to spare.

The match was held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on the evening of Wednesday. The efforts of the Captain Fatima Sana were in vain, she scored 55 runs not out and took 3 wickets for 16 runs.

The next match of Pakistan will be against Bangladesh at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton on Saturday. It will be played on June 20. It will be a day game starting at 2:30 pm and in Pakistan it will begin at 6:30 pm.

South Africa was kept on a leash throughout the match due to the skipper Fatima Sana. She made a record partnership with Tuba Hassan for the ninth wicket of 71 runs. It helped Pakistan achieve a competitive total.

She also performed very well during the bowling innings of Pakistan. Where she removed Nadine de Klerk, Sune Luus and Sinalo Jafta.

She became the first T20 captain ever in all 10 Women’s T20 World Cups to score a fifty and take three wickets in a single match.  

While chasing the target, South Africa lost two wickets for 76 runs. Annerie Dercksen made 52 runs on 35 balls. She scored two sixes and seven fours.

In the second over of the match Fatima took his first wicket. In the seventh over Tuba got Laura Wolvaardt out.  

The performance of Pakistan’s women’s team has gotten better over the past few years. However, the team is still unable to get proper results.

The team also lost its match to India. Fans are hopeful that Pakistan will be able to win its next match with Bangladesh.
