Fatima Sana World Cup

Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has claimed that the team has made consistent preparations for the T20 World Cup, rather than concentrating on any one match.

In a media interaction on the last day of training camp in Lahore, the 24-year-old skipper said that the team had been gradually inching its way closer to the tournament with positive strides during the past couple of months.

The team is attentively studying all opponents and preparing in detail for all challenges, Fatima said.

She pointed out that the India-Pakistan match is very important and explained that players are focusing on the overall game plan, rather than focusing on one match.

She explained that the team would still play their hardest in the India-Pakistan game.

The captain welcomed the confidence and determination of the younger players, commenting that the younger players have shown great confidence and great determination, and improved the overall morale of the team and helped them build confidence in their performance and motivated them to improve their performance from the last World Cup.

Fatima has said she has been doing a lot of work on her attacking style and power hitting, on an individual level.

She also thanked former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz for assisting her in honing her bowling skills in training.

Emphasising her team-first approach, Fatima noted that individual accomplishments are not as significant as team success.

She added the coaching staff has been getting the players ready for the pressure situations, both tactically and mentally.

While lamenting the loss of batter Sidra Ameen, Fatima was confident of Pakistan’s prospects noting that she would lead the team to the top four of the tournament and keep playing fearless cricket against all opponents.
