The Government of Pakistan has revised the date for presenting the federal budget for FY2026–27.
Speaking on Samaa TV, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, said that the first date to present the budget was June 5, which has now been revised to June 10.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the federal government had revised the budget presentation date to allow further consultations with its allies.
Speaking on the matter, he said the government was currently discussing proposed measures and reforms for the upcoming budget with its allied parties.
“We are consulting our coalition partners and will take them into confidence regarding the reforms and policy measures being considered for the new budget,” he said.
Tariq Fazal added that the government would finalise budget proposals only after completing the consultation process and reaching a consensus with its allies.
“Once these discussions are concluded and the relevant matters are finalised, the government will present the federal budget,” he said.

The government has also reasoned the postponement of the federal budget presentation due to the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over development spending and broader fiscal measures.
According to official sources, the delay is linked to discussions with the IMF regarding the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and other budgetary matters ahead of the presentation of the federal budget.
Despite the delay, budget documents reveal that the federal government has proposed a development budget exceeding Rs1.1 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year.
According to the documents, Rs754.9 billion has been earmarked for development projects managed by federal ministries and divisions.
Among the largest proposed allocations, the Ministry of Water Resources is set to receive Rs179 billion, while Rs72 billion has been allocated under the Cabinet Division for development schemes linked to members of parliament.
The Ministry of Defence has been allocated Rs11 billion for development projects, while the Ministry of Defence Production is expected to receive Rs1.1 billion.
The proposed budget also includes Rs805 million for the Board of Investment and Rs2.78 billion for the Ministry of Climate Change.
Under the development plan, Rs16 billion has been earmarked for the Ministry of Interior and Rs20 billion for the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
Education-related spending includes Rs36 billion for the Federal Education Ministry, Rs4 billion for the Ministry of Information and Rs41.19 billion for the Higher Education Commission.
The Finance Division has been allocated Rs1 billion for development initiatives, while railway infrastructure projects are proposed to receive Rs27.83 billion.
The documents further show that Rs355 billion has been allocated for state-owned corporations, including Rs264 billion for the National Highway Authority and Rs91 billion for power sector development projects under the Power Division.
Officials said consultations on the budget framework are continuing, with final allocations and fiscal measures expected to be announced once discussions with the IMF are concluded.
