Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters to review Pakistan’s preparedness and response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season.
During the visit, the NDMA chairman briefed the army chief on the operational capabilities of the NEOC and its technology-driven disaster monitoring and response systems.
The briefing also covered “Disaster Lens 2026,” a digital platform used to monitor the prevailing monsoon situation and track multiple disaster-related risks.
Field Marshal Asim Munir commended the NDMA’s efforts to strengthen the country’s disaster management capacity. He stressed the importance of maintaining preparedness, ensuring effective coordination among relevant institutions and responding swiftly to emergencies to protect lives and critical infrastructure.
He also reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to support civil authorities and the NDMA in relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations during disasters.
The visit comes as authorities continue to monitor weather-related risks during the ongoing monsoon season.
Earlier, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, reaffirmed that Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA are true partners, bound by mutual trust, unwavering support and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability and the protection of common strategic interests.
He expressed this while addressing the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of the People’s Republic of China, which was commemorated at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.
