The Interior Minister of Iran, Eskandar Momeni, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, bilateral relations, regional security, and effective border management.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Iranian minister appreciated Pakistan’s role in reducing regional tensions, promoting peace, and supporting diplomatic efforts.
He said that Pakistan is playing an important role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. Further, he also praised its efforts to reduce tensions through diplomacy.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue close cooperation and coordination on regional security, mutual interests, and bilateral cooperation.
Yesterday, Iranian Interior Minister arrived in Islamabad with a high level delegation for talks with Pakistani leaders.
The Iranian Interior Minister is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
At the reception, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry presented a bouquet to the distinguished guest. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moqadam was also present on the occasion.
Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Canadian Foreign Minister
Yesterday, the Foreign Minister of Canada, Anita Anand, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the GHQ in Rawalpindi.
According to the ISPR, both sides discussed Pakistan Canada relations, defence cooperation, regional security, and other issues of mutual interest. They also talked about efforts to promote peace and stability.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir shared Pakistan’s views on regional and global peace. He said that the countries should work together to deal with common security challenges.
Anita Anand praised Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. She also appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen Pakistan Canada relations and expand cooperation in defence, security, and other areas.
