Meta has launched a new free verification badge for eligible Facebook users. The new feature will let the people to verify their accounts without paying a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
The company first introduced its paid Meta Verified service in February 2023. That service gives users a blue verification badge along with extra features. Meta has now added a free option to confirm that an account belongs to a real person.
To get the free badge, users only need to upload a selfie. Meta will compare the selfie with the profile photos on the account using facial recognition technology. The company said the process usually takes only a few minutes.
Meta said the free verification option is available only for users who are 18 years of age or older. After the account is verified, the badge will appear on the user’s Facebook profile and other supported Facebook services.
The company said the free badge only confirms a user’s identity. It does not show that a person is famous, a public figure or a professional. The feature is only meant to prove that the account belongs to a real person.
Facebook eases monetisation rules
Social media platform Facebook has announced a major change to its monetisation policy that could help many new content creators in Pakistan earn money more easily, according to reports.
The popular Meta social media platform has reduced some of its earlier requirements. It has now introduced a simpler way for creators to qualify for monetisation.
Under the new system, users who get 300,000 views on their Facebook pages within 28 days will be able to access Content Monetisation Tools. This feature will allow the creators to earn money in US dollars from videos, reels, and other content.
