On Saturday, Good Transporters and Mini Mazda announced an increase of 10 per cent in the fares.
The fare increase was announced after the government made the decision to raise the prices of petroleum products throughout the country.
The increase in the prices of petroleum products will take effect from today.
Rana Mohsin, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) said that the government has summoned a meeting of the transporters regarding the increase in fares.
According to him, after the meeting, the government will take a final decision about fixing the petroleum prices.
On May 8, 2026, the prices of petroleum products were increased by the federal government. The prices for petrol and diesel have now increased by Rs15 per litre each for the next week
The Petroleum Division in a notification, said that new fuel rates will come into effect from May 9.
After the increase in price the price of petrol has jumped from Rs399.86 to Rs414.78 per litre. The High Speed Diesel (HSD) price has now increased from Rs399.58 to Rs414.78 per litre.
Consumers can still reduce their fuel expenses in the face of a petrol price hike in Pakistan. They can use various petrol discount cards and digital payment options offering rewards and cashbacks.
For motorists fuel loyalty cards are available such as GO cards. They provide reward points, cashless transactions and savings at over 150 fuel stations nationwide.
Some banks are also offering fuel discount card options. This includes the HBL FuelSaver Credit Card. This will provide up to 5 per cent cashback on fuel purchases and Standard Chartered’s Xtra Mile account.
These cards are specifically designed for fuel savings.
