Google’s new Fitbit Edge fitness tracker leaked ahead of launch

Google is reportedly preparing to introduce a new fitness tracker called the Fitbit Edge. The upcoming device could become a replacement for the popular Fitbit Charge series, which has not received a new model since 2023.

The Fitbit Edge is expected to offer a balance between a basic fitness band and a full smartwatch. It may appeal to people who want health tracking features without wearing a larger smartwatch.

However, Google has not officially confirmed the device, price or release date.

Fitbit Edge design and expected features

Reportedly, Fitbit Edge will have a slim design with an oval-shaped display. This would make it noticeably different from the round Pixel Watch 5.

The tracker could arrive in three colours, black, green and orange. These shades are reportedly similar to those associated with Google’s Pixel 11 Pro smartphones.

It may also feature a pinch-style mechanism that allows users to change straps easily.

The Fitbit Edge could offer up to seven days of battery life on a single charge.

Its GPS may help users track walking, running and cycling routes without relying on their smartphones.

An altimeter is also expected, allowing the device to measure changes in elevation during exercise.

Another possible feature is automatic activity recognition, which could detect workouts without requiring users to start tracking manually.

The device may support smartphone notifications and limited access to services such as Google Maps, YouTube Music and Find My Phone.

The Fitbit Edge is reportedly expected to work with both Android phones and iPhones, unlike Google’s Pixel Watch lineup.

Expected price and launch date

The Fitbit Edge is expected to cost between $149 and $199, placing it above the $99 Fitbit Air and below the $399 Pixel Watch 5.

A separate leak suggests European pricing of €179 and a 1.34 inch AMOLED display.

Reportedly, Google could introduce the tracker in October 2026, ahead of the holiday shopping season.

However, Google’s announcement will confirm the news about all the required details.
