A national hockey championship has started at the new stadium in Thana Baizai, District Malakand, marking a key moment for sports in the area.

Many spectators came out to cheer for the teams and celebrate the revival of hockey at the grassroots level.
District Sports Officer Saeed Akhtar spoke at the event, stating that the government is dedicated to creating opportunities for young players and improving sports facilities throughout the province.
He added that such events are crucial for identifying new talent and guiding youth towards positive activities.
Participants and sports enthusiasts praised the championship, calling it a positive step for Malakand, and expressed hope that ongoing sports activities would help develop players who can represent the region nationally.
The championship is set to continue in the coming days with more matches and community activities aimed at promoting hockey culture among the youth.
Pakistan national hockey team arrives in Belgium
Earlier, the Pakistan national hockey team arrived in Belgium to begin its campaign in the second leg of the Pro Hockey League.
Pakistan will open its European tour against the host nation, Belgium, on June 13 before taking on Spain on June 14. The Green Shirts will face Belgium again on June 19, followed by another clash against Spain on June 20.
The matches are part of Pakistan’s ongoing participation in the prestigious international hockey competition as the team looks to build momentum against some of the world’s top-ranked sides.
