Around one million Pakistanis have registered for the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme, State Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja said.
Payments to petrol stations under the relief programme have also started, with 868 petrol pumps receiving a total of Rs12.2365 million for claims related to September 16.
The Petrol Pump Owners Association said the full amount claimed by the 868 petrol stations had been paid and transferred to their respective accounts.
The association said the payments were made under the government’s petrol relief programme, which provides registered citizens with petrol at a discount of up to Rs100 per litre.
A digital system has been activated to facilitate the scheme, with registered beneficiaries across the country receiving petrol at the subsidised rate.
Authorities are also carrying out real-time monitoring of the scheme to track the delivery of the relief and ensure that registered citizens receive the benefit.
Shaza Fatima said the number of people registered for the petrol relief scheme has now reached one million.

Earlier, the government announced further relief for the public under its petrol relief scheme, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directing the inclusion of 20-year-old motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws in the programme.
Under the revised scheme, owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws that are up to 20 years old will also be eligible to benefit from the petrol relief.
The prime minister has issued special directives to the relevant authorities to facilitate the inclusion of more people in the scheme.
