IESCO announces power outage schedule for October 8

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a load-shedding schedule for Thursday, October 8, 2026, affecting several areas due to ongoing construction and development work.

According to the post on X by IESCO, electricity supply will remain suspended in areas connected to the affected feeders.

The shutdown is part of work being carried out to facilitate development projects and construction activities.

IESCO has apologised to consumers for the temporary disruption and asked them to cooperate with the utility during the scheduled work.

The shutdowns are listed under construction and development work, while the schedule also notes that there is no shutdown planned for 11kV feeder annual maintenance.

IESCO said the temporary interruption is intended to facilitate the timely completion of development projects being undertaken by the district administration.

Consumers can report complaints or seek assistance through the IESCO helpline at 118.

Tax on electricity units

Separately, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced revised sales tax rates for certain steel-sector businesses.

Under a notification amending SRO 1245, the FBR has introduced revised rates for different categories of steel units, including a sales tax of Rs30 per unit of electricity consumed by certain steel re-rolling mills.

The changes form part of the government’s revised tax measures for the steel sector.
