The government of Iran has announced to resume its international flights to Turkey and Oman.

According to the Iranian media, the international passenger flights will be taking off on Saturday, April 25, from Tehran’s Imam Khomenei International Airport to Istanbul and Mascut.

The permits for other domestic and international flights will be issued in stages.

The head of Imam Khomenei Airport City, Ramin Kashif Azar, told the national media that the flight operations are resuming now after a long closure due to the US-Iran war.

He said that all of the airport’s infrastructure and navigation systems are now completely functional.

“The airport was used only for cargo operations, but now all facilities have been provided for passengers as well”, he added.

The Iranian national airline has already resumed its domestic flight operations on April 22 with its first flight travelling from Tehran to Mashhad.

The Iranian airspace was closed after the US airstrike in February.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has also reopened its airports on Monday, April 20.

The deputy head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation, Hamid Reza Saniee, said that permits were issued for resuming the flights at Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports in Tehran.

Airports in Ahvaz (Arabian), Kermanshah, Abadan, Shiraz, and Kerman were also reopened.

While the airports in Rasht, Yazd, Zahedan, Gorgan, and Birjand will be reopened from today.

Hamid Reza stated, “The operation of other areas will be carried out gradually in coordination with the relevant military authorities.”

He said that the Iranian government has decided to open the airspace for the global flight operation in the central and western regions of the country.

Reza Saniee also said that Hajj flights can now pass through the Iranian airspace.

He also briefed on the air cargo flights that remain operational even during the war.

More than 90 air cargo flights were being sent to those areas in need of medicines and raw materials needed for the pharmaceutical industry.
