Cricket Ireland has confirmed its women’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies later this month.
Gabby Lewis has been appointed captain of the side, with star all-rounder Orla Prendergast named vice-captain. The series also marks the beginning of a new cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship.
The Irish team enters the series in confident form after recently defeating the West Indies in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, while the West Indies side comes into the series after reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.
Ireland Women’s Squad: Gabby Lewis (captain), Christina Coulter-Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Sarah Forbes, Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Louise Little, Amy Maguire, Jane Maguire, Kia McCartney, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast (vice-captain), and Rebecca Stokell.
The first ODI will be played on July 10, followed by the second on July 12 and the third on July 15. All matches will be held in Brady.
It is worth mentioning here that Ireland’s men’s cricket team has secured a historic 2-0 T20I series victory over India after defeating the visitors by one run in a thrilling second match. Chasing a target of 155, India fell just short, finishing on 153/9 despite a fighting half-century from Tilak Varma and a late 20-run contribution from Harshit Rana.
Ireland’s Matt Hollard and Jaymundra starred with the ball, claiming three wickets each to help seal the narrow victory. Earlier, Ireland posted 154/8 after being sent in to bat. Harry Tector top-scored with 53, while Ben Colitz contributed 37 runs.
With this win, Ireland completed a memorable 2-0 series whitewash over India, marking a historic achievement for the home side. Prince Yadav was India’s most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs, while Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets each. Chasing a target of 155, India could only manage 153/9 in their allotted 20 overs, falling just one run short.
India suffered a disastrous start as both openers, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, were dismissed for golden ducks on the first two deliveries they faced. It was the first time in T20I history that both Indian openers were dismissed for golden ducks in the same innings. Debutant Suryansh also failed to make an impact, scoring just one run.
Tilak Varma was India’s top scorer with a fighting 55 off 46 balls, while Shivam Dube contributed 20 runs from 16 deliveries. For Ireland, Jay Mowindra and Matt Hallard starred with the ball, taking three wickets each, while Matthew Humphreys and Harry Tector picked up one wicket apiece.
