Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has stated that Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic engagement played a significant role in facilitating the first US–Iran ceasefire agreement, as well as supporting efforts behind the latest extension of the truce.
While addressing a press conference in Washington, Dar stated Pakistan’s growing diplomatic engagement is being viewed with respect internationally, as the country continues its efforts toward regional peace and cooperation.
He stated that Pakistan had achieved a major victory in Marka-e-Haq. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with investors during his visit to China, where an MoU worth $20 million was signed.
Ishaq Dar stated that two historic agreements were signed during the Prime Minister’s visit to China. He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to attracting foreign investment and providing a conducive environment for international investors.
Dar said Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue remains clear. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s stance remains unchanged, emphasising that the recognition of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
He added that people of Kashmir should be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions. He described Pakistan as an advocate of peace.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a cordial atmosphere, with the Pakistani ambassador and Foreign Office officials also present during the meeting. He added that Pakistan has gained a new identity under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts were focused on reducing the burden on the public caused by rising oil prices.
