Islamabad Food Authority Cracks Down on Unregistered Food Outlets

Web desk: The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has initiated a strict crackdown against unregistered food outlets and restaurants, which has been in effect since December 1, 2025.

Deputy Director of the Food Authority, Dr Tahira Siddique, earlier insisted that all food points and restaurants in the federal capital complete their registration by November 30 to avoid legal action, closure, and heavy fines.

The food outlet registration campaign was initiated to ensure that food safety is enhanced and also to enhance the health system of the city.

The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) maintained its offices during the weekends to facilitate easy registration and set up special registration desks at the Business Facilitation Centre and at the Agricultural Complex.

On-the-spot registration of business owners who failed to do so previously has also been undertaken by the officials.

Dr Tahira Siddique revealed that, as of the registration deadline, 1085 food points had already met the set objective of registering themselves in, and registration is still going on.

She underlined that since December 1, it will be impossible to run any unregistered food point or restaurant in any way. And daily inspections will be taken to make sure that things are running accordingly.

The IFA has gathered statistics on outlets that are not registered and is willing to proceed without further notice on non-compliant companies.

The officials emphasised the fact that registration is not just a legal obligation, but also a critical factor that guarantees the safety and quality of food that is being served to the population.

M-Tag Registration of Vehicles

Besides food outlet registration, the administration is also streamlining the vehicle owners through the process of continuous M-tag registration.

The citizens are urged to ensure that they take time to register their vehicles at one of the 12 service points within Islamabad to avoid fines.

The M-tags, which are mainly utilised in motorways, have been suggested to be used extensively in the city to enhance security and ease vehicle inspections in the city as a result of the recent occurrences.

Authorities have emphasised that timely registration for both food outlets and vehicles is crucial to ensure compliance with regulations, maintain public safety, and support smooth operations across the city.
