Will there be public holiday in Islamabad tomorrow

There are speculations on social media that Islamabad will observe a public holiday tomorrow, on Tuesday, June 23, due to the arrival of the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian. However, as of now, the authorities have announced no holiday in the federal capital.

Authorities have also clarified that reports about a local holiday in Islamabad are false at this time. People are advised to plan their travel accordingly.

According to the details as of now, all offices will remain open tomorrow, and the country will function as usual.

The city is being decorated ahead of the Iranian president’s arrival, and the national flags of Pakistan and Iran have been displayed across the Red Zone.

In addition to this, there is also a possibility that the red zone will remain closed to the general public tomorrow.

Citizens have been asked to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The arrival time for the VIP movement has not been confirmed yet.

People are advised to allow an extra 45 minutes to one hour before starting their journey because traffic disruptions are expected.

VIP movement will take place between the Old Airport and the Red Zone. But the exact timings have not been shared.

Authorities have also said that reports claiming a local holiday in Islamabad are not true at this time. Citizens are advised to plan their travel accordingly.

In addition to this, all of the Faizabad bus terminals have been closed. They are expected to remain closed till tomorrow at 9 PM.

The visit comes as Iran-US talks started in Switzerland. Pakistan has played a key role in mediating talks between Tehran and Washington in the previous months.

In a post on X, PM Shehbaz expressed satisfaction regarding the meeting held in Switzerland’s Burgenstock.

“Alhamdulillah, the First High-Level Committee Meeting under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has concluded successfully in Bürgenstock, Switzerland,” he said.

PM Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended the first round of the talks in Switzerland.
