Italy offers 10,500 employment slots for Pakistani nationals

Italy is to provide employment opportunities to 10,500 Pakistani nationals in the next three years as part of a new labour mobility scheme, said Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan Marilina Armellin.

It was announced on the occasion of the celebration of Italy Day in Islamabad on Tuesday.

At the event, the ambassador affirmed Italy’s efforts to boost Italy-Pakistan cooperation in various fields including labor mobility, education, diplomacy and economic cooperation.

She said that the new mechanism will open hundreds of legal employment opportunities for thousands of Pakistanis in Italy and boost people to people relations between the countries.

In the education segment, Armellin also revealed that 3200 scholarships are being provided for the academic year 2025-26 for Pakistani students.

The scholarships will allow students to study at Italian universities, which is part of the strong academic cooperation between the two countries and an increasing opportunity to learn and develop internationally.

Additionally, the Ambassador welcomed the Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives for dialogue and mediation in the region in view of the tensions between the United States and Iran.

She said Pakistan was a country of friendship, generosity and mutual respect and that Italy supported Pakistan’s role in the peaceful engagement.

The speech was made at an event organised by the Italian Embassy in honour of the 80th Italy Day dinner.

It featured the presence of diplomats, government officials, and representatives from civil society, and it started with the National Anthems of both countries.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Ali Pervaiz Malik said that Pakistan and Italy have long-standing relations in their history and have many common values and have crossed seven decades’ milestone in their diplomatic ties.

He hoped that recent talks between Pakistan and Europe would motivate the Italians to invest more in Pakistan.
