The changing of the Kiswah al-Kaaba ceremony grabbed public attention, as the new Kiswah has been hung on the walls of the Holy Kaaba.
The ceremony took place in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, at the Haramain Sharifain (the Holy Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, that encompasses the Kaaba) under the general presidency of Haramain Sharifain and the King Abdulaziz Complex for Holy Kaaba Kiswah.
Every year, the same ceremony is held on the first of Muharram following the start of a new Islamic year.
The new Kiswah has been installed on the holy walls of the Kaaba for the year 1448 AH.
According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the changing ceremony of the Kiswah is strongly grabbing the attention of the Muslim community as they admire it as a Holy place.

During the event, the old Kiswah was respectfully removed and replaced with a new one. Preparations began after the Asr prayer with the installation of the Shadrawan rings.
Following the removal of the Kaaba’s door curtain, workers started unfastening the seams of the old Kiswah. The process of installing the new covering commenced around midnight and was expected to be completed before the Fajr prayer.
The new Kiswah has been crafted from pure silk, weighing approximately 1,415 kilogrammes.
It contains 120 kilograms of gold and silver-plated threads and features 68 Quranic verses embroidered in elegant Thuluth calligraphy.
The Kiswah was produced by skilled artisans at the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Holy Kaaba Kiswah.
The old Kiswah will be carefully preserved, while selected portions of it will later be presented as gifts to Muslim leaders, institutions and museums around the world.
The replacement of the Kaaba’s Kiswah is a centuries-old tradition. In the past, it was carried out during the Hajj season in Dhul Hijjah, but it is now performed at the beginning of the new Islamic year to ensure better preservation and maintenance of the Holy Kaaba.
Saudi authorities completed all arrangements for the ceremony, which was broadcast live through the official channels of the Two Holy Mosques.
Muslims around the world regard the annual replacement of the Kiswah as one of the most significant and symbolic events associated with the Holy Kaaba.
