The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has urged all registered female beneficiaries to obtain and link a registered mobile SIM card to their accounts by June 30 to ensure uninterrupted receipt of financial assistance.
BISP has stated in a tweet posted on social media that those who have not registered their mobile phone for BISP should go to the nearest BISP office with their mobile phone and original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) to register their mobile phone.
The Programme stipulates that beneficiaries need to register their digital wallets at an authorised retailer of the designated partner bank within three days of getting the registered SIM card.
Future payments will be made only through digital wallets with registered SIMs and verification will be done by the representatives of the partner bank, BISP said.
People with registered SIM cards have also been instructed to go to an authorised bank retailer to verify and activate their digital wallet.
Beneficiaries can reach out to BISP toll-free helpline for further information (0800-26477).
BISP increases quarterly stipend to Rs18,000, shifts to digital wallet payments
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has decided to increase the quarterly stipend to 18,000 rupees, according to reports on Thursday.
BISP quarterly stipend increased
According to the details, the federal government has approved this increase for the next financial year. The purpose of this step is to give extra financial help to families with low income who are facing rising inflation.
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid said that the program is a major source of financial support for poor and vulnerable families. She also said it helps improve the financial independence of women.
Further, she rejected negative criticism about the program and said that the government will fully protect the rights of all eligible beneficiaries.
She added that the increase in the stipend is part of efforts to strengthen social protection programs. The new amount will be implemented from the next financial year.
