Heavy rainfall and hailstorms disrupted the power supply in several parts of Lahore on Saturday, causing 49 electricity feeders to trip across the city and surrounding areas served by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
According to a LESCO spokesperson, field staff have been placed on high alert during the rain to respond swiftly to any emergency situation. The spokesperson added that restoration work on the affected feeders will begin once the weather conditions improve.
The downpour brought pleasant weather to Lahore, with temperatures dropping significantly across the city. However, the rain also affected traffic flow in several areas.
Data from the Meteorological Department and initial reports showed that the highest rainfall was recorded in Nishtar Town at 30 millimetres. Other areas receiving significant rainfall included Lakshmi Chowk with 26mm, Chowk Nakhuda with 24mm, Mughalpura with 23mm, Upper Mall with 22mm, and Tajpura, Gulshan Ravi and Iqbal Town with 17mm each.
Meanwhile, Gulberg recorded 7mm of rainfall. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as intermittent rain and hailstorms impact daily life and utility services in the provincial capital.
