A young man has been arrested for aerial firing near Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s car in Lahore.

The minister was present in the car when the man opened fire on Friday. He said that he was with his family when a car passed his vehicle and the young man fired five shots. After that, he followed the vehicle and alerted police.

According to the police, the arrest was made with the assistance of Safe City surveillance cameras and other modern investigative tools.

“A case has been registered against the accused, and legal proceedings are underway”, added the police.

On Friday, Tarar, in a press conference, said that the increase in oil prices in international markets is linked to the worsening regional situation and that Pakistan’s efforts to resolve the situation have been “appreciated by the entire world”.

During oil shortages at the peak of tensions, he noted that “many developed countries in the world saw people lining up for fuel and they could not get it”. At the same time, he said, the prime minister had arranged additional oil reserves beforehand.

“Many countries opted for rationing, but in Pakistan, there was no rationing or shortage,” Tarar said.

“Whenever the petroleum division gave a briefing, it would announce that we had reserves for one and a half to two months”, he added.

Fuel prices will now be fixed daily due to fluctuations in international market prices.
