The federal government has decided that petroleum prices will now be set on a daily basis, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said on Friday.
Speaking alongside Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Malik said the decision was approved by the prime minister and the federal cabinet.
How to check new OGRA petrol price every day?
He said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will determine petroleum prices every day. The new petrol prices in Pakistan will be published on the OGRA website, according to the details.
The minister said rising tensions in the region have affected global oil markets. This has caused the international oil prices to increase again. He added that diesel prices have seen a particularly sharp rise.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the price of diesel in the international market has reached the level of $140 per barrel, the price of petrol has increased from $89 to $100, and an attempt has been made to support the people using national resources.
Malik also said the prime minister and the federal government had used Rs130 billion in resources to help reduce the financial burden on the public.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that the increase in oil prices is related to global tensions.
Oil was not available in many countries of the world, but it is available in Pakistan, he said. Further adding that the government had cut the development budget and provided a subsidy of Rs129 billion.
Attaullah Tarar said that in many countries of the world, the prices of petroleum products are fixed on a daily basis.
‘We have to move towards electric bikes and hybrid vehicles,’ Atta Tarar further added.
