Will petrol, diesel prices increase in Pakistan today

Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to go up in the next fuel price review today, which is expected to take effect from July 18, 2026.

According to some reports online, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may increase by up to Rs40 per litre. Petrol is also expected to become around Rs10 per litre more expensive.

Last Friday, on July 10, the prices of petrol were increased by Rs13.18, and diesel prices were increased by Rs13.80.

This set the new price of petrol at Rs310.71, and the new price of high speed diesel at Rs323.30, as per the notification.

The expected increase is linked to higher global oil prices after tensions between Iran and the United States, these reports suggest.

The final prices have not been decided yet. Officials will review the latest international oil prices before announcing the new rates.

The government is also considering reducing the petroleum levy to help lower the impact of the increase on consumers.

Govt says there is no fuel shortage

The federal government has said that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in Pakistan. It said the country has enough fuel stocks and supplies remain normal.

The statement came after a meeting led by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema.

The meeting reviewed the country’s fuel supply and discussed reports of fuel hoarding by some oil marketing companies.

During the meeting, the minister directed provincial governments to take action against petrol pumps and oil companies found storing fuel to make extra profit.

Provincial officials said they will work with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to stop the hoarding. And to make sure fuel is available across the country.

The government said it will not allow anyone to create an artificial fuel shortage. It added that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in hoarding, profiteering, or disrupting fuel supplies.
