A personal security guard of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was killed after armed persons of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) allegedly opened fire on his convoy in the Tain Dhalkot area of Poonch district on Friday.
According to a statement shared by Tanveer Ilyas’ spokesperson, the convoy was travelling from Islamabad to Pachiot in Rawalakot for an election campaign when it came under attack.
The statement said that the convoy was fired upon and pelted with stones during the incident.
The security guard, identified as Muhammad Asif, was killed in the attack. Additionally, several others travelling in the convoy were injured. A number of vehicles were also damaged.
Reports also said that Sardar Imtiaz Shaheen, a former special assistant to the IPP AJK president, was among those injured.
Tanveer Ilyas had left Islamabad earlier on Friday for a two day visit to Rawalakot along with party leaders and workers.
According to the statement, the funeral prayers for Muhammad Asif, a resident of Palandri, will be offered after Isha prayers on Friday at Jamia Masjid near Allah Wali Market in Islamabad’s F-8/1 sector.
Qamar Raza exposes propaganda by banned JAAC
Qamar Raza has rejected what he described as propaganda by the banned Awami Action Committee (JAAC) on Wednesday.
He strongly rejected the claims made by the banned Public Action Committee regarding Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Further, he called them baseless, fabricated and misleading propaganda
He said that the banned JAAC claimed that he wrote a letter to an important figure, after which the important figure appointed Syed Qamar Raza as his special representative and sent him for contact and negotiations.
Qamar Raza categorically denied this claim. He said that there is no truth in it and it is just an attempt to mislead the people.
He said that no important figure asked him to contact the banned Public Action Committee, nor has he been appointed as their representative.
