Good news for Sindh residents as the provincial government is set to expand its public transport network by adding 50 double-decker buses and 500 electric (EV) buses, aiming to improve commuting across the province.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has disclosed that 50 double-decker buses and 500 electric (EV) buses will soon join Sindh’s public transport fleet, saying the new additions will significantly improve commuting facilities across the province.
Sharjeel Inam Memon made these remarks while chairing an important meeting to review land allocation and the transport plan for constructing bus depots.
He directed officials to immediately complete the process of identifying and allocating suitable land for bus depots, stressing that the timely availability of depots and operational infrastructure is essential for the successful implementation of the projects.
He also instructed all relevant departments and agencies to ensure the identification of land and complete the necessary arrangements through close coordination and cooperation.
Officials gave a detailed briefing on the land required for public transport projects, including bus parking and operational facilities. The meeting also reviewed available government land in different districts, proposed locations for bus depots, and future land requirements.
Addressing the meeting, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said the new buses will significantly improve commuting facilities across the province.
Sharjeel Memon said the Sindh government remains committed to providing citizens with modern, comfortable, and environmentally friendly public transport. He added that the government is making every effort to put the new buses on the roads as soon as possible for public service.
The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General Asif Jan Siddiqui, senior officials from the relevant departments, and deputy commissioners of Malir, Korangi, Central, and West districts.
