The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in Karachi today. Weather conditions expected to remain unstable over the coming days. The city is likely to experience above-normal rainfall during the next three days. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 35°C.
The Met Office stated that Karachi will witness strong winds and rain today. However, rainfall is not expected to be widespread across the entire city, but could provide temporary relief from the prevailing humid conditions.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious while travelling during periods of rainfall, as slippery roads, reduced visibility, and water accumulation in vulnerable areas may affect traffic flow.
Meanwhile, the PMD has warned that Peshawar is experiencing intense heat and humid conditions. Temperatures are expected to exceed 42°C over the next 24 hours in Peshawar. Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
The department further said that rain is likely to take place in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tonight. The expected rainfall is likely to bring decrease in temperatures across the province. Additionally, Dera Ismail Khan recorded one of the country’s highest temperatures at 43°C.
The PMD noted that such conditions could improve temperatures in many regions but may also negatively affect localised vulnerable areas, where people are residing from years. However, residents in vulnerable areas should remain alert for any weather advisories or emergency instructions issued by local authorities.
Public is advised to monitor official forecasts, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season, as rainfall intensity and storm activity can change rapidly.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) also forecasted the arrival of the second spell of the monsoon season across Punjab. Rainfall expected from July 19 (today) to July 24.
