The Sindh government has reduced school operating hours by one hour across the province, with the new schedule coming into effect immediately. According to a notification issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, schools will continue to operate five days a week from Monday to Friday.
The department said the revised timings would remain applicable until further orders. Heads of educational institutions and field officers have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the new schedule. The decision comes weeks after the provincial government reinstated Saturday as a weekly holiday for all educational institutions in Sindh.
Following the restoration of the Saturday holiday, the education department had announced that schools would function from Monday through Friday, bringing the academic week to five working days. At the time, the department said teaching hours would be increased by one hour to compensate for the additional weekly holiday and ensure that academic activities continued without disruption and the prescribed curriculum was completed on time.
However, this change will not have any negative impact on the weekly routine of educational institutions. Schools across Sindh will continue to operate five days a week as before. The Education Department has clarified that all other terms, instructions, rules, and regulations outlined in the previous circular will remain in force, with no changes made to them.
The School Education Department has strictly directed all school heads and concerned field officers to ensure the complete and immediate implementation of the revised working hours.
