The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, has clarified on the social media platform X that a fake notification regarding revised shop closure timings is being circulated on Wednesday.
The DC informed that the federal capital’s administration ‘has NOT issued any new notification today in this regard.’
He further requested the citizens to rely only on official sources for authentic information and avoid sharing unverified content.

According to the fake notification being circulated, the business timings in Islamabad have changed, however this is not true. The matter has been officially clarified as well.
Market closure timings Islamabad
Recently revised timings were announced for business in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on Thursday, according to an official notification issued by DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon.
“In light of ongoing austerity measures, the Islamabad Administration has issued revised operating hours for various sectors across the city,” he wrote on X.
The following are the revised timings for business in Islamabad
- Shops, Markets & Shopping Malls shall close at 08:00 PM (throughout the week)
- Restaurants, Hotels, Grocery & Food Outlet shall close at 10:00 PM (Takeaway & delivery allowed)
- Marriage Halls & Commercial Event Venues shall close at 10:00 PM.
- Sports Facilities & Gyms shall close at 08:00 PM.
However, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and dairy shops have been exempted from the early closure and will continue operations as usual
The administration further asked for full cooperation from citizens and the business community.
All shops, markets, and shopping malls were closed at 8:00 PM previously. Restaurants, food outlets, and marriage halls will close by 10:00 PM, according to the notification.
These businesses had been asked to shut after 10 PM, but this has been revised to 10 PM.
Entry into Islamabad’s Red Zone suspended
Taking to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the DC stated: “Entry into Islamabad’s Red Zone to remain suspended on April 21.”
Regarding the offices and schools, he wrote that they have been advised to adopt work-from-home to avoid inconvenience.
