Hot and dry weather is expected to dominate most parts of the country, according to the latest forecast, with rain and thunderstorms mainly confined to northern regions.

Meteorological authorities said that while dry conditions will persist across the majority of areas, some upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir may experience rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.

On Thursday, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are likely to remain hot and dry, though partly cloudy skies may develop later in the day.

Across Punjab, most districts will continue to face hot and dry conditions, with southern parts expected to experience intense heat. However, hill stations such as Murree and the Galiyat are likely to see dry to partly cloudy weather.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hot and dry conditions are expected in most districts, but upper areas, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Kurram, Waziristan and Parachinar, may witness partly cloudy weather along with light rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Sindh will remain extremely hot and dry with strong dusty winds likely to affect the central and southern parts during the afternoon.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for central and upper Sindh warning that the intense hot weather conditions may persist until May 3.

According to the latest forecast, temperatures in the affected regions are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, intensifying the heat across multiple districts.

Areas most impacted by the heatwave include Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur. Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures as the extreme weather conditions continue.

Regarding the provincial capital, Karachi, the Meteorological Department stated that while daytime temperatures will remain high, there is currently no heatwave expected in the city. The maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to reach up to 36°C.

Balochistan is also expected to experience hot and dry weather, with southern districts facing extreme temperatures.

Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to see partly cloudy conditions, with chances of light rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms in a few locations.
