Steve Smith, the Australian legend playing for Multan Sultans was left extremely angry during the Eliminator 1 of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 after he was easily dismissed by Mohammad Ali of Hyderabad Kingsmen.
The legendary opener Steve Smith was at just 13 runs when Mohammad Ali removed him in the third over. Multan Sultans had only made 28 runs at that point.
Interestingly Steve Smith had received a lifeline when he was dropped by Maaz Sadaqat in the same over but it did not matter since Smith gave his wicket shortly.
After being dismissed, Smith visibly looked upset and even smashed his bat in the dressing room. The reaction made sense since he could not perform in one of the biggest matches of the season.
Due to the dismissal of Steve Smith Multan Sultans had a really shaky start in the high powered knockout match.
After Smith’s dismissal Multan continued to lose wickets regularly. All-important batters of Sultans which include Josh Philippe, Aston Turner, Arafat Minhas and Sahibzada Farhan were dismissed cheaply by the Hyderabad Kingsmen.
After the top order collapsed, Shan Masood tried his best to keep Multan alive. The left hander made 69 runs not out on 46 balls. He was able to hit four sixes and four fours and lifted his side to 159/9 in 20 overs.
Brief support was found by Shan Masood by Mohammad Nawaz, he made 19 runs but Kingsmen’s bowling kept striking at crucial moments.
Hunanin Shah, Akif Javed and Mohammad Ali all took two wickets each. Saim Ayub and Glenn Maxwell also took one wicket.
Masood resisted as best as he could, the main focus of the early evening of the match was the angry reaction of the Australian star batter Steve Smith.
