The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new facility for passport applicants, allowing citizens to verify their identity information through a digital identity card.
NADRA announced that citizens applying for passports can now verify their identity using their digital identity card available through the Pak ID mobile application, particularly in cases where they do not have a physical identity card.
According to officials, citizens applying for passports at the offices of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, either within Pakistan or abroad, can use the digital identity card to verify their identity information.
How to access the digital identity card
- Log in to the Pak ID mobile application.
- Select the “View Digital ID” option from the home page.
- Click on the “Digital Card” button, and the identity card will appear on the screen.
NADRA stated that this initiative aims to provide citizens with a simple, modern, and convenient digital identity verification facility, further improving access to government services.
On the other hand, NADRA has also introduced a free iris scanning service at all of its registration centres across Pakistan to strengthen the protection of citizens’ identity information.
The authority has urged the public to take advantage of the facility to enhance the security of their biometric records. NADRA’s iris scan service uses the unique patterns of the eye’s iris to verify an individual’s identity.
The technology provides an additional layer of biometric authentication, improving the accuracy and security of identity verification.
In a public awareness message, NADRA stated that the service is now available free of charge at all of its offices nationwide, allowing every citizen to further safeguard their identity information.
