The government of Pakistan is likely to introduce some new security features in Pakistani passport to strengthen protection against forgery and improve compliance with international standards.
The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, attended by representatives of international companies specialising in passport security technology.
According to officials of the meeting, the review focused on incorporating advanced security features that would make Pakistani passports more resistant to counterfeiting while improving their reliability, verification process and international acceptance.
Representatives of several globally recognised firms gave presentations on the latest passport security technologies and outlined features currently used in some of the world’s highest-ranked passports.
Senior officials from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, along with technical experts and forensic specialists, also attended the meeting.
Participants reviewed the proposed technologies and examined various recommendations aimed at modernising Pakistan’s passport system.
Officials said the proposed upgrades are intended to align Pakistani passports with evolving international security standards and reduce the risk of document fraud.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Muhammad Ali Randhawa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening passport security and expanding cooperation with international technology providers to modernise the country’s travel documents.
