The killer of an orphan child named Waseem Abbas died in a crossfire due to the firing of his own accomplices.
Police said that the suspect accused of running over an orphaned boy in Multan has been killed by gunfire from his own accomplices during an attempted arrest in Bahawalpur.
Tauqeer was accused of killing an orphaned boy who was only 15 years old by running him over with a car in Multan; the boy died after being shot by his own accomplices, according to the Crime Control Department (CCD).
Police said the suspect, identified as Tauqeer, was killed during an operation to arrest him in Bahawalpur. His alleged accomplice escaped.
According to the police account, officers attempted to stop two motorcycle riders near the Northern Bypass. The suspects allegedly opened fire while trying to flee.
Police said that when officers pursued Tauqeer and reached the scene, he had already been killed by gunfire from his accomplices.
The case relates to the death of Waseem Abbas, an orphaned boy who was reportedly learning electrical work under Tauqeer near Aziz Bhatti Park in Multan.
According to the initial information provided by police, Tauqeer had taken the boy from an orphanage to train him in the trade. The boy was allegedly subjected to physical abuse and threats while working under him.
Police said Waseem eventually fled because he feared for his safety.
Tauqeer allegedly pursued the boy in a car alongside an accomplice. In an attempt to stop him, the driver reportedly crashed the vehicle into a wall, trapping the boy between the car and the wall.
The child died at the scene from his injuries.
The incident prompted police to launch an operation to arrest Tauqeer. According to the CCD, officers tracked the suspect to Bahawalpur, where he was killed in what police described as firing by his own accomplices.
The case has drawn attention to the vulnerability of children living in orphanages and concerns about their safety when placed in work or apprenticeship arrangements.
Police have not provided further details about the investigation into Waseem Abbas’s death or the search for the escaped suspect.
