Pakistan welcomes Kuwait’s ratification of 2023 defence cooperation agreement

Pakistan has welcomed Kuwait’s recent ratification of the Pakistan–Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement, signed in June 2023, describing it as a significant milestone in the longstanding defence partnership between the two countries.

In a statement issued on July 29, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the agreement reflected the shared commitment of Pakistan and Kuwait to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and enhance their security partnership.

The agreement provides a comprehensive institutional framework for expanding cooperation in several areas, including military training and education, joint exercises, the exchange of expertise and other mutually agreed fields.

According to the Foreign Office, the agreement will strengthen institutional links between the armed forces of both countries and further consolidate their longstanding defence ties.

Pakistan and Kuwait will continue to work closely to implement the agreement in line with its provisions. The cooperation aims to expand bilateral defence collaboration and strengthen their partnership based on mutual trust, shared interests and close institutional engagement.

The Foreign Office said the enhanced defence partnership would also contribute to regional peace, security and stability.
