The Minister of State for Interior of Pakistan, Muhammad Talal Chaudhary, has claimed that the Park road project in Islamabad will be completed in July, 2026.
The Rs10 billion Park road infrastructure project is progressing on schedule, with the first phase expected to be completed in July, said the minister while briefing the session in the Senate on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Talal Chaudhry said the project, which began in March, had faced no delays so far.
Responding to a calling attention notice, he said the scheme includes an underpass, service roads, an overhead structure and other improvements designed to ease traffic flow and improve connectivity in the capital.
He added that the underpass, forming the first phase of the project, is expected to be completed in July, while the remaining works will continue and are scheduled to finish in August.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), which are also involved in its financing and execution.
According to the minister, the development will improve links between Park Road, Margalla Avenue and nearby areas, benefiting residents of both older and newly developed sectors of Islamabad.
He acknowledged that commuters are facing temporary disruption during construction, but said the project will ultimately reduce traffic congestion, travel times and fuel consumption.
Talal Chaudhry stated that the environmental impact assessments were conducted before construction began, and steps are being taken to minimise damage to green areas.
He described the project as one of the key infrastructure developments currently underway in the capital.
