The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka from participating in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The decision follows a review of his contract with Lahore Qalandars and recent developments related to his participation in the tournament.
According to the PCB, Shanaka’s unilateral withdrawal from the PSL on March 21, 2026, constituted a clear violation of his contractual obligations and the tripartite agreement.
The board’s investigation concluded that the reasons provided for his withdrawal were not acceptable under the terms of the contract.
As a result of this decision, Dasun Shanaka will be ineligible to participate in the next season of the HBL Pakistan Super League, the twelfth edition scheduled for 2027.
In his statement, Shanaka said he regrets withdrawing from the HBL Pakistan Super League and apologises to the people of Pakistan, fans, and the cricket community. He added that he had no intention of participating in any other tournament and remains keen to be part of the league again in the future.
The Pakistan Cricket Board reiterated that it is committed to upholding player contracts and maintaining professional standards to ensure the league’s reputation and continued success.
