The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced a six-month schedule for electricity load shedding to carry out maintenance and development work on its electricity network.
According to an official notification, the schedule will remain in place from October 16, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
PESCO has directed its departments to combine maintenance work wherever possible. This will help reduce the number of power cuts and limit the time consumers remain without electricity.

When will power shutdowns take place?

PESCO has instructed its departments to follow the approved schedule strictly. Officials will not be allowed to make routine changes or add extra shutdowns without approval.
If an emergency makes an additional shutdown necessary, the relevant department must submit a formal written request.
The company has also advised officials to avoid planned power cuts on Fridays and Sundays. However, shutdowns may take place on these days if necessary.

Who will be informed about planned power cuts?

PESCO has made it compulsory for officials to inform key consumers and industrial users before planned shutdowns.
Hospitals, educational institutions and local community leaders must also receive advance notice. This step aims to reduce problems for the public and help essential services continue with less disruption.
The company has further directed its staff to follow all required safety measures during maintenance and development work.
PESCO officials said the work aims to improve the electricity distribution network and provide consumers with a more reliable power supply in the coming months.

PESCO staff receive one-month salary bonus

Recently, PESCO approved an annual bonus for employees for the fiscal year 2025–26, according to reports today. The decision also includes strict rules for eligibility and accountability of the people.
According to an official notification, employees working on a regular, contract, and deputation basis will receive a bonus equal to one month’s basic salary.
