Pope Leo refuses to attend US 250th anniversary celebrations

The religious leader of Catholic Christians, Pope Leo XIV, has declined the invitation to attend the celebrations marking America’s (US) 250th anniversary.

According to media reports, instead of attending America’s anniversary event on July 4, Pope Leo will spend time at a migrant entry point in Europe.

Earlier, in a statement, Pope Leo had refused to engage in a debate with Donald Trump, saying that conflict with President Trump is not his priority.

The Pope said that the purpose of his African visit is to promote peace, not personal confrontation.

He added that due to criticism of Trump, misleading comments have been made about the political situation, which are being exaggerated.

This decision comes after several months of strained relations between the Vatican and Washington, reportedly due to disagreements over American immigration policies and the war in Iran.

According to reports, officials from the Pentagon had also issued stern warnings to the Holy City (Vatican).

According to foreign media, Pope Leo XIV’s decision not to attend America’s 250th anniversary celebrations carries both symbolic and political significance.

Instead of taking part in this important occasion, the first American-born Pope will be present at a European migrant reception centre, highlighting his connection with marginalised communities.

Recently the President of the United States Donald Trump, criticised the Head of catholic Church Pope Leo. The President said that he was not a fan of Pope Leo. To which Pope Leo replied that he is not afraid of Trump or his government.

Pope Leo also emphasised that he will keep spreading the message of love and peace and continue the mission of Church.

Pope Leo said, “To put my message on the same plane as what the president has attempted to do here, I think, is not understanding what the message of the Gospel is.”
