The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed six famous restaurants in the city of Lahore.

PFA has carried out a crackdown on food contamination in Lahore, sealing several businesses and taking legal action against multiple violations.

Officials said enforcement teams inspected 10 food units during the operation.

Three premises were sealed, two people were arrested, and six outlets were fined a combined total of Rs195,000.

Authorities said the action targeted unhygienic conditions, unlicensed production, and the sale of unsafe food.

During the raids, a supplier vehicle was also seized.

It was allegedly carrying around 800 kilogrammes of used cooking oil and ghee intended for distribution.

Inspectors said the oil had been concealed, and the supplier was unable to provide proper records or documentation.

In a separate action, officials destroyed 50 kilogrammes of Chinese salt and 40 litres of low-quality soda water.

A soda water plant was shut down after samples failed quality checks. Authorities said chemicals had been used without proper formulation.

A restaurant serving sajji was also sealed due to poor hygiene, while another unit was closed for producing and packaging food without a valid licence.

The Director General of the authority, Muhammad Asim Javaid, said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to address food adulteration.

He added that strict action would continue against those putting public health at risk.

Officials say monitoring and enforcement activities will carry on across the province as part of wider efforts to ensure food safety.
