Will Punjab govt increase public transport fares: check here

The Punjab government has announced that public transport fares will not be increased, according to the reports on Sunday.

The Deputy Commissioners and Regional Transport Authorities have been given special monitoring duties as well in order to make sure that the decision is implemented.

According to officials, the Transport Department and transport operators have agreed to keep current fare rates unchanged. Transporters have also promised that they will not increase the fares.

The Transport Department has also received written affidavits from transporters confirming that fares will not be raised. Secretary RTA Rana Mohsin has said that several private transport companies have submitted these affidavits.

He further warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who is found to be increasing fares illegally.

Rana Mohsin also said that inspection teams have been deployed at all bus terminals. Any violation of the government’s orders will face a quick and immediate action.

Will Punjab schools announce early summer vacations

Due to rising temperatures in the coming months and the expected Eid al-Azha 2026 holidays, many reports have suggested that summer vacations in Punjab schools may start earlier than usual.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab has issued a circular to concerned departments about expected weather conditions in the next few months.

According to the PDMA report, Punjab is likely to face higher-than-normal temperatures during May, June, and July 2026. The province can also receive above-normal rainfall during these months.

The report said that the northern and northwestern areas of Punjab are expected to receive more rainfall than usual.

However, eastern parts of Punjab may receive slightly below-normal rainfall. The central region of the province is likely to receive normal rainfall.

Rana Sikandar Hayat, the education minister of Punjab, announced on April 28 that the schedule for the summer vacations in schools will be implemented when approval has been given by the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz.
