The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and possible flood situations from June 11 to June 13, 2026.

In its advisory, the NDMA said that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding in various regions across Pakistan.

The department also said that moist currents from the Arabian Sea are also expected to enter the upper and central areas, intensifying weather activity during this period.

The system is likely to bring scattered dust storms, windstorms, rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy downpours and hail in several regions.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), affected areas are expected to include Dir, Swat, Chitral, Malakand, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan and surrounding districts, with intermittent gaps in rainfall activity.

In Punjab and Islamabad, rainfall and stormy conditions are forecast for Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and other major districts. Authorities have warned of possible heavy falls and hailstorms in some areas.

PMD said that similar conditions are expected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), where rain, strong winds and thunderstorms could trigger landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas.

In Balochistan, northeastern districts including Zhob, Ziarat and Dera Bugti may experience dust storms and scattered rain. Upper Sindh is also likely to see dust and windstorm activity during the same period.

Officials warned that strong winds and hail could damage weak structures such as electric poles, billboards and solar panels.

Urban flooding is also possible in low-lying areas of major cities, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad.

The advisory also highlighted the risk of flash floods and landslides in hilly and mountainous regions of northern Pakistan.

Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops, while tourists and travellers have been urged to avoid unnecessary movement during the forecast period.

Authorities have also issued public safety guidance, including avoiding travel through flooded roads, staying away from water channels, and seeking shelter during thunderstorms and hailstorms.

The Met Office said that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and issue updates as the weather system develops.
