Rawalpindi launches crackdown on unlicensed drivers, over 13000 licenses issued

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, announced on Wednesday that over 13,000 new driving licenses have been issued to citizens this month.

Additionally, 5,898 challans have been issued for individuals driving without a valid license, as authorities have intensified enforcement efforts to reduce road accidents.

He stated that strict measures have been implemented against motorists operating without licenses, with circle and sector in-charges instructed to improve enforcement through the establishment of special checkpoints and pickets throughout Rawalpindi.

To assist applicants, licensing services are now accessible at six driving testing centres, traffic checkpoints, and service centres across the district.

Furthermore, mobile licensing vans are actively operating under an outreach initiative to deliver services directly to residents in remote areas.

As part of special provisions, learner permits and driving licenses are being issued swiftly to motorcyclists, while Sundays have been allocated to assist rickshaw drivers.

CTO Aslam also mentioned that driving without a valid license is an offense under the law and warned that action will be taken against drivers who do not carry a license.

He encouraged citizens to secure their licenses immediately to prevent any legal consequences, highlighting that holding a valid license is very important for responsible driving.
