Saudi Arabia has reiterated that its stance on the Palestinian issue remains unchanged, with a Saudi source telling Al Arabiya English that there must be an “irreversible pathway” toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The statement came after Donald Trump called on Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and other regions to normalise relations with Israel as part of efforts linked to a potential peace agreement involving Iran.
In a lengthy social media post, Trump said he had spoken with leaders of several countries regarding attempts to end tensions and conflict involving Iran.
He also urged countries to join the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements brokered during his administration in 2020 to normalise diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab states.
However, Saudi Arabia has consistently maintained that it will not establish formal ties with Israel without the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
