The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to provide additional facilities under the Sehat Card Plus KP program to government employees.

The facilities include a possible top-up health package for government employees.

The proposals were discussed at a meeting on the Sehat Card Plus programme chaired by the Chief Minister (CM) of KP, Sohail Khan Afridi, according to the provincial government.

Officials considered increasing coverage for expensive medical treatments and revising service rates under the programme.

A proposal was also discussed to introduce an additional health package for government employees, which would provide coverage on top of the existing Sehat Card benefits.

The meeting was told that the proposed changes were aimed at making the health insurance programme more organised, effective and financially sustainable.

Speaking at the meeting, CM Sohail Afridi said that health and education remained among the government’s top priorities, in line with the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

He also called for reforms at basic health centres, saying the objective was to improve access to healthcare and provide medical services closer to people’s homes.

The chief minister directed officials to address issues relating to health and education without delay.

He also called for effective measures to prevent the misuse of Sehat Card facilities.

The proposals will now require further consideration and approval before any changes to the programme are implemented.

Sehat Card Plus is a major healthcare initiative of the KP government, providing health coverage to eligible residents through empanelled hospitals.

What is Sehat Card Plus KP?

Sehat Card Plus KP is a government-funded health insurance programme of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Under the programme, eligible KP residents can receive cashless inpatient treatment at hospitals that are officially empanelled with Sehat Card Plus.

The programme provides secondary and tertiary healthcare and covers major treatments including emergency care, kidney disease and dialysis, kidney transplant, cancer, hepatitis B and C, diabetes, and heart and vascular diseases.

Importantly, eligible KP residents can use the facility at empanelled hospitals across Pakistan, meaning treatment is not limited to hospitals located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Who is eligible for Sehat Card?

Families of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa registered with NADRA are eligible for the programme, provided the family head has a permanent KP address recorded on their CNIC.

There is no age restriction under the programme.

Adults can use their CNIC, while children under 18 can use their Form B.

Eligible residents do not need to complete a separate online registration. However, their family information and family tree must be correctly updated in NADRA records.

How to check Sehat Card eligibility

People can check their eligibility by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 9780.

If the system does not show a beneficiary record, the applicant may need to contact NADRA to update their information.
