The Sindh government has imposed a ban on bringing mango crates and boxes into the Sindh Secretariat, citing security concerns.
This decision was announced through an official notification, directing security personnel to strictly prevent the entry of mango cartons, crates, and boxes into the Secretariat premises.
According to the notification, all security staff stationed at the Secretariat have been instructed to ensure that mango crates are not allowed inside the premises under any circumstances. The directive specifically requires security personnel to monitor entry points carefully to prevent the movement of such items into the premises of the Secretariat.
Further, officials stated that the measure has been taken as part of enhanced security arrangements at the Secretariat. The authorities believe that tighter control over items entering the premises is necessary to maintain security standards and reduce potential risks.
Additionally, the Sindh Secretariat is located in Karachi’s Red Zone, an area that houses several important government institutions and offices. The complex contains key provincial administrative departments, including the offices of provincial ministers, the Chief Secretary of Sindh and other various government secretaries. The presence of these important offices makes security measures in and around the Secretariat generally more stringent than in many other government buildings.
In a separate development earlier, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi directed the district administration and police to strictly enforce the ban on bathing in the Hub Canal, warning that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions.
According to a handout issued by the Commissioner Karachi’s office, the Deputy Commissioner submitted a report on the implementation of the ban.
The report states that Manghopir Police are taking action against individuals violating government orders, and more than 35 people have been arrested during the operation.
Cases were registered against the arrested individuals under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Citizens were strictly warned not to visit the canal area for bathing, swimming or gathering in groups. Authorities have stated that immediate legal action will be taken against all violators without exception.
