The Excise Department and the Sindh Traffic Police will collaborate on a massive citywide crackdown starting July 1.
Authorities have already created a list of 40,000 blacklisted cars under Karachi’s faceless e-ticketing system. These vehicles will be subject to severe legal action, including hefty fines and instant impoundment.
The country has cast a wide net, and the faceless automated tracking system has been quietly gathering data.
If your car fits into any of the following categories, it may already be on a blacklist: owners who haven’t paid their outstanding debts and have been handling traffic infraction camera tickets like spam, vehicles that were sold but never formally transferred to the current buyer’s name are known as un-transferred ownership.
The vehicle will be subject to strict legal action if no verified data is found between the registered owner and the current user is detected by the system or if any car without validated registration information is found to have incomplete documentation or automobiles in the Excise database with incorrect or unconfirmed address logs.
Although purchasing a car on an “Open Transfer Letter” has always carried a significant risk, starting on July 1, it will actively result in your vehicle being towed.
It is recommended that citizens transfer the ownership of any vehicle they drive to their name right away if it is registered to someone else.
Concerned citizens can also check their status online.
