Snapchat is about to replace its employees with artificial intelligence (AI), as it is about to fire more than 1000 of its workers.

By removing these employees, the social media platform would eliminate 16 per cent of the working staff.

Snapchat has reasoned this removal as a strategy to gain more profit by decreasing the number of employees and replacing them with AI.

According to the media reports, the company is also closing over 300 open roles.

After firing the employees, the company would be able to save $500 million by the end of 2026.

As per the data of December, 2025, Snapchat has approximately 5,261 full-time workers.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel, said, “The decision reflects a shift toward using artificial intelligence to improve productivity.”

He stated, “AI tools are already helping smaller teams complete tasks more efficiently and accelerate progress across key projects.”

The company believes AI can reduce repetitive work, increase operational speed, and better support users, partners, and advertisers, Spiegel said.

As per the latest information, Snapchat has also joined the family of those companies that made it to the latest technology, and have announced the removal of their staff.

These major companies include Meta, Amazon, Oracle, GoPro, and Block.

Snapchat is reshaping the company to make a broader effort at how the company should be operated in the future, added the CEO.

Evan Speigel said, “Snap has reviewed its priorities over recent months and made decisions to focus on investments that are expected to deliver long-term value.”
