What is a pinched nerve
A pinched nerve happens when surrounding tissues, such as bones, muscles, cartilage or spinal discs, put too much pressure on a nerve. This pressure can interrupt the signals that travel between the brain and the body.
The problem can develop in different parts of the body like the neck, lower back, shoulders, wrists and legs.
In many cases, it is temporary. But it can cause ongoing pain and other complications if it continues for a long time.
Some of the common symptoms include pain, a burning sensation, numbness and tingling. People can also experience muscle weakness, difficulty moving the neck or back and pain that spreads to the arms or legs.
